 Two
brothers, Pavel and Vitaliy, formed Moonbeam
in 2003 at Nizhny Novgorod. In the summer
of 2003, Vitaliy and Pavel began to work
with Chris Lunsford, a California native,
who authored and performed the vocal poetry
on a number of tracks, including Moonbeam's
debut, “Raven Gipsy EP,” released
on Portuguese label Feed Me Records in
June 2005 to great acclaim. Inspired,
the brothers expanded their sound to include
more guest vocalists from around the world,
including Amigo a.k.a. Mohammed EL-Fatih
(Sudan), Nastya Sorokina (Russia), and
Oxana (Russia).
In 2005, Moonbeam reached another major
turning point when Kingkade (Alex Buchanan)
signed five of their tracks to his label,
Dirty Blue Records. Their success continued
with another EP released on Piliavin &
Zimbardo`s label Distraektions Records,
catching the ear of influential DJs like
John Digweed, Tony Thomas, Flash Brothers,
and many more. In 2006, Moonbeam continued
their rapid ascent with signings to Pure
Substance, Flow Vinyl, Mezzotinto Records,
CP, Minimal, and Toes in the Sand.
In the end of 2005,
the brothers along with Oleg Kumagin founded
the label Moonbeam Digital and two sub
labels, Moon Tribal Records and Disoma
Records. After just a few releases, the
label has already won fans like Moshic,
G Pal, CP, Jerry Bonham, Fred Numf, Shiloh,
and many others.
